Meeting Minutes

 

December 1, 2= 007 – Staples, Texas

 

In Attendance= : Pete Binion, Bob Spain, Grady Hicks, Mike Rendon, Mike Drost, Erin Magee, Richard Steppe, Ann Best, Frank Gray, Grady Hicks, Tommy Yonley, Jay Daniel, Cindy Meurer and Mike Simmons.

 

 

General Annou= ncements:

  1. Meeting was called to order by lame duck President, Cindy Meurer, and duties w= ere officially transferred to the 2008 President and Board.
  2. TCRA has transferred its banking business to Compass bank.
  3. Pete announces that he has a shed on his Staples property for the use of storing club equipment.
  4. Cindy would like to transfer TCRA domain to a new provider.

  2. Bob Spain and Pete Binion have been meeting with the City of Bastrop and LCRA.
  3. Accommodations for the race and reception have been provided by LCRA at their McKinney= 217;s Roughs location.
  4. Proposed schedule

    1. Southern Pro Championship race would be locally sponsored by TCRA and others a= nd offer cash prizes.
    2. Call out to general membership and others who may have aluminum canoes available for rent or loan to out of town paddlers.
f.    Proposal to include a non championship class or special recog=
nition for seniors (50-59) and veterans (69-69) and youth recognition.
  2. A proposal was introduced that would create a two tiered recognition, one for established paddlers and one for new paddlers.
  3. Recognition for experienced paddlers would be for the 3 TCRA championship races a= nd two other races determined by the board.
  4. Intent is to provide more incentive/motivation for new paddlers while still providing recognition for more experienced paddlers.
  5. Other discussion multi tiered ranking based on either self declaration or s= ome formula to establish rankings.
  6. Was discussed that different milestones could raise ones ranking points "class/rank" progression from the lower tier, at a minimum winging the in the lower tier would eliminate a paddler from the lower tier.
  7. Points Administrator position is currently vacant, discussion of potential nominees for position.<= /span>
  • Tommy introduced a proposal to resuscitate the TCRA Solo Unlimited Race
  • Proposal included two different races and award recognition for a pro and amat= eur class.
  • Pro race would be from = City Park to Luling Gravel Bar and Amateur race would begin in Staples.
  • Race Director to be given discretion to establish rules and classes.
  • TCRA dates and Directors were set for 2008

    New Business:=

     

    • Discussed tools and mechanisms to poll membership and develop a membership committee.  Frank Gray an= d Ann Best volunteered to work in tandem to explore possibilities and option= s.
    • Grady Volunteered to assume duties as the Insurance Chairperson
    • Overview of budget and projected expenditures for 2008.

    • TCRA State Alum Championship was overlooked, and proposal introduced to hav= e on the same course as Nationals as a run through race.   Proposed date was for A= ugust 16th.
    • ICF Championship races proposed to be held on separate date than the USCA races.  A number of dates= have been proposed with a favorable recommendation of Town Lake in Austin as the venue.<= /li>
