2004 TCRA Points System

 

The goals of the TCRA points system are to:

1. Increase participation in TCRA canoe and kayak races.
2. Encourage competition in nationally recognized canoe and kayak boat clas= ses such as USCA.
3. Reward outstanding paddlers.

The TCRA points system is a competition to select the:

“Male Paddler of the Year ”                 “Female Paddler of the Year”

“Male Youth Paddler of the = Year ”     “FemaleYouth Paddler of the Year”

·      =    All TCRA sponsored canoe races are eligible for points except for the Martindale Triathlon.  This includes the Unlimited Championships, the Aluminum Championships, the USCA State race series, and the Sprint Championships.

·      =    TCRA Approved Points Races will also qualify racers for points.  In order to qualify as a TCRA Approved Points Race, the race director must send the TCRA points chairperson a letter of intent by March 1, and agree to submit the r= ace results to the TCRA points chairperson within 2 = weeks of race day.

·      =    Points are accumulated between January 1 &am= p; the December TCRA board meeting and may be earned only by TCRA members in good standing as of June 1, 2004.

·      =    A racer is considered to be a ‘Yout= h’ paddler if they are 17 years of age or less as = of January 1st of 2004.

·      =    All points earned will count towards the = 220;Paddler of the Year” award.

·      =    Points may be earned in more than one race p= er day.  Sprint points are awarded based on total points accumulated for the day.  The first place winner will get 8 points, 7 for the next, etc.

 

·      =    Points shall be 8 points for 1st= place, 7 points for 2nd, 6 points for 3rd, 5 points f= or 4th, 4 points for 5th, 3 points for 6= th, 2 points for 7th place and down (8-7-6-5-4-3-2-2-2…).

·      =    Race standing and points will be computed us= ing class segregation.

·      =    Awards commiserate with rank shall be provided to the 1st to 5th place points earner in each category.

 

·      =    Any paddler participating in a TCRA clean up will receive 8 points, the equivalent of a= 1st place finish.

 

·      =    A bonus of 5 points will be given to each paddler who enters a TCRA sponsored race, listed above.  These bonus points wil= l be awarded only once per race series or weekend, not for every class entered.<= /p>
