The Great Castell Kayak Race is a family event that highlights fun and beginner/medium skill kayak paddling in a competitive format. Although some folks come to seriously race, many are here to support the charity asp= ect of the race.

 

The GCKR is an authorized grass roots fundraiser for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, helping those with cancer. The race also showcases original Texas music, joi= ning forces with Texas Songwriters in the Round, Austin Songwriters Group and The Dallas Songwriters Group. There is Great live music all day at the finish line along with BBQ, = fun and prizes. This is the 6th year as a group and this race is one of a kind!=

 

The course is 12.1 miles of granite laced clear water. There is no way to tell = what the flow might be as it changes all the time according to rainfall upstream. T= he racers will receive water, free camping, free concert, race packe= t, LAF yellow armband, and a 2008 t-shirt. The entry fee is $35.00. There is an auction the night before the race in Llano Texas.
