The Town La= ke Race series in its second year is intended to provide an early season competitive environment, in a simple format.

All races w= ill start and end in the same place, Fiesta Gardens put in.  All hulls are welcome, in a user-friendly venue for all paddling abilities, with no portages, 10:00am start times and no entry fees.  These are timed events, results will be posted, no. Will be provided, and coffee will be present to ensure Richard is there. J

All race= s will be handicapped in the following manner: Rec Solo start, Rec Tandem-Aluminum= , at 1min., Female C1 at 4min., Female C2 at 5min., Female unlimited at 6min., M= ale C1 at 9min., Male C2 at 11min., Female K1-Male Unlimited at 12min., and Male K1-Surfski at 16min. =  Handicaps are based on past race re= sults held on Town Lake.  New for th= is year all race distances will be kept in the one-hour or 10K distance by pop= ular demand.

Race one wi= ll be held Jan. 27.  A 6.62 mile out= and back course starting at Fiesta Gardens heading upstream around Mopac and th= en returning to Fiesta Gardens put in.

Race two wi= ll be held Feb. 10.  A 6.5-mile race consisting of two 3.25-mile loops where spectator as well as competitors can keep a constant eye on the competition.&nb= sp; Start and finish Fiesta Gardens.

Race three = will be held Feb. 24.  6.75-mile races= on four 1.7-mile loops where you will be able to check your progress and always feel you are part of the race.  Start and finish Fiesta Gardens.

For those unfamiliar with the Fiesta Gardens put in: exit at 234B traveling south on = 35, exit 233 traveling north on 35.  Turn east on East 1st Street/Cesar Chaves turn right onto Chicon St then turn left at Lake put in.

Race four t= akes us out of our normal confines as we head to Luling for our last race in the se= ries March 2nd.  A six-m= ile race starting at Luling (Zelder) Dam traveling 3 miles up stream to a buoy = and then back.

This is an opportunity to earn some early season points and a fun way to measure your early season fitness.
