The 1998 Greens Bayou Canoe Classic enjoyed another successful
year. Competition was intense as shown in several very close
races. The K-1 ICF race had the long awaited rematch between Roger
Myers and Tim Rask who haven't raced each other since last spring.
Roger set a new record shaving 14 seconds from last year's time.
Tim showed considerable progress toward his goal and was only 1:15
behind Roger. He knocked one minute and thirty seconds off his
1997 time. Frank Gray had a successful race winning firsts in
Mixed and Men's C-2. Lee Deviney won the first running of the Solo
Unlimited class.
Thanks to everyone who came to the Greens Bayou Canoe Classic
and made it a successful event in 1998. Thanks to Pat Croft for
organizing the youth races. Special thanks to Gail Gluckman for
timekeeping and sign-up work. I'm looking forward to seeing you
next year.
