1998 Junior Texas Water Safari

The annual Junior Texas Water Safari was held this past weekend from San Marcos City Park to the Staples bridge, sixteen and a half miles down river. The water was up for the event due to recent rains, allowing for low times and a record breaker for winner, Roger Myers. Roger has been in top form preparing for the World Championship in South Africa this weekend. He stomped his old record by a minute. Hot on his tail was ever improving Fred Mynar. Both racers were in the ultra-unstable, but lightning fast Olympic sprint K-1 kayaks. Many thanks to the Texas Water Safari Board for putting on a fine race and for providing food and beverages at the finish line.
