Ironworks Sprints Race Results

Rusk State Park - Rusk, Texas

The weather was outstanding, temperature in the low 80's. The lake was three feet low but we had enough water to race. Without friends, it would not have happened. Thanks to East TX River Runners for providing burgers and hot dogs, Candy and Ed for registering and time keeping, Paul and Allan for cooking, David for getting folks into boats and Ervin Wolfsohl for starting duties, Alan for course measurement. There were a total of 17 folks racing. We had three kids under 9 and three more under 15 racing. Hannah Wolfsohl, 8 came up from Lexington because Hannah says she dreams of racing canoes and kayaks. I asked if racing is as good as she hoped, she answered, "much better".

The ten lap experiment was a success. Everyone had a great time. Some were going full bore. Some enjoying the rubbing and bumping. Some doing strategy things. It was definitely a good buoy turn practice session. Jerry Brown agreed to do a piece for the December newsletter so everyone can share the fun.
